Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to Support AI Apprenticeships
Igniting the technology workforce pipeline is not a one-solution-fits-all problem. To address the existing and looming workforce shortage and diversity imbalance, there are significant efforts attacking the problem along multiple vectors. One of these approaches is the CS4NC.org effort to train enough computer science teachers to meet the needs of NC and ensure every student in every school has the opportunity to learn computer science. Likewise, a new four-year, $6 million project led by North Carolina State University and funded by the U.S. Department of Labor seeks to assist 5,000 workers with training, college coursework and certification to work in the emerging field of artificial intelligence (AI). With this added momentum, it is now even more crtical that we accelerate our plan to meet our goal for middle and high school teachers in every county. Read more
